Navratri: A Nine-Night Guide
By Pandit Suresh Mishra
7 min read
Navratri honours the nine forms of Goddess Durga across nine nights, celebrating the victory of the divine feminine over negativity. Each night is dedicated to one form — from Shailaputri on the first to Siddhidatri on the ninth.
Observance can be as simple as lighting a lamp, offering flowers, and chanting the Goddess's name each evening. Many keep a fast, eat sattvic food, and set an intention to release one negative habit over the nine days.
The tenth day, Vijayadashami, marks the culmination — a fitting moment to begin something new, having spent nine nights clearing the ground for it.
